whats your opinion? Im visiting both cities in the festive season but am unsure where to spend new years..

i think it depends..but i think i would go to shanghai..this is because i dont like places where there are WAAAY lot of people..and beijing..is the capital.. making it probably where most of the people are going...however, if you like places with alot of people, then beijing, so it depends.. and i think that since beijing is the capital i think there would be alot more celebration and decorations there.. because many tourists would be going there..so its all up to you.

The Chinese New Year is a big festive event here. It will be celebrated from 18 -28 Feb.2007.Both the cities are equally good to to spend your time for this event.
However if you have the Gregorian New Year in your mind then do not expect anything drastic for it is restricted to a few 5 star hotels in Beijing or Shanghai.

Shanghai is good place to spend new years,becoz many attraction here than in Beijing. For me, I'd better choose Shanghai. But it's up to you... Have a nice vacation wherever you are!..

If you like partin' for new years then you should go to Shanghai. they are pretty much party animals there and should have an awesome display of fireworks.
