or is it better for her to just eat only IAMS which my vet recommended? Or can she eat only dry food which is on the same high quality level as IAMS? Can you suggest which dry food is on the same quality level as IAMS?

I would go with a higher quality food, premium cat food from a pet store, wet and dry food. If you change the food little by little over the course of a week until the cat is switched to the new brand, then it will be fine to switch. From the research I have done it is conflicting. Some say its good to change food, some say its best to feed the same food. For my cat I switch foods, I buy something different after the bag is almost empty. I just got her in the summer though so I will probably stick with a couple of brands of high quality food. I want to try Felidae next after her Nutro Natural Choice is gone.

I disagree with the other person who said they need a variety of different brands to meet nutritional need. That said, if Kitty enjoys a variety, there's no harm. I avoid cheap brands - I won't buy anything except Purina, Iams, Science Diet. Dry food as a rule is better for your cat's teeth than canned food, but it is okay occasionally. Watch for loose bowel movements, which can be a reaction to a food change.

As all BODYS go, it's always good to vary your diet, so you can absorb all the many vitamins and nutrients each provide. Dispite what any manufacturer may LIKE to think, no 1 food covers everything. Your vet says IAMS is good? great, that's a start, but it shouldn't end with that. give your cat a variety, is a good idea to keep in mind the ingredients of each, dry food, wet food, snacks, it's all good for your little friend. but the main thing in the end is, that it makes your cat feel good, and HE likes it. :)

most writing in the back of cat food bag would tell you to stick with one brand. However, My cats seem to like variety of dry food I given to them. Sure they love one brand more to the other. But if I only give one particular brand they get bored. In my opinion, the best cat food out there is Innova Pro. it got the highest protein, it doesn't come cheap and you can't find it in every store, try to log on to their website for places around your neighborhood that might sell it.

IAMS is good, cats don't like much of a variety in their food. Just make sure it is good for them

My 2 kitties share 1 can of wet food every morning then they get two bowls of different dry food which stays down all day so they can munch when they want to and they can decide which they want.

Hi,

I feed my cat Purina and Meow mix and keep a bowl of both out for him. I notice he will go from one to the other, variety is the key here.

I let him decide which one he wants.
