We are a family of 3 and all have mobiles and we use them more than we use our home phone, in fact hardly at all. We have a business line and a home line in the house and running up line rental costs for nothing! All I am worried about is if people will be put off calling our mobiles i.e. family, schools etc. as they might think its too expensive. My husband has his own mobile just for business, I have mine for my business and personal and our daughter has hers for personal use. What do you think and have you taken this step?

get rid of the home phone they are pointless. i havent had a home phone for 2 and a half years now and i jut tell everyone my cell phone is my home phone and they all call it. in all reality its not more expensive to call a cell phone either but yeah i know some people that think its more expensive to call a cell but i just tell them its my home phone.
i havent had any telemarketers call either
home phones are overrated. if you have your profile set up on a cell phone (your address on the bill is up to date) then when you call 911 the operator gets a print out of your address and a note that states cell phone.....
i called 911 once on the cell phone cause there was a fire. the operator said are you at home or are you at another address and i said another address and she tracked where i was standing somehow.
anyway dont worry about the 911. save money and get rid of that land line

Cell's are so common that no-one will be put off by this choice. I don't use a home phone, and more than half the numbers in my address book are cells (personal and business).

Whenever our home phone gets disconnected everyone at home relies on their cellphones to make calls to both other cells and home lines and office lines. The longest we've done this has been a year and it was cool

We got rid of our hoe phone 2 months ago, and it's working out fine. If Comcast cable puts up home phone service in our are next month as they said they'd do, I will use their home phone service if it's cheap. Otherwise I don't need it. Upon doing that I would cut down on primary minutes on cell phone.

I know several people who have done this without problem. If you're concerned about having a land line, just get very basic (cheap) service from your local phone company.

It's a growing trend nowadays. If it works for you, go for it.

My only concern would be ready access to a landline if cells get swamped, like during 9-11/other emergencies. When you need 911 you need it badly.
