Find the copy of the magazine "Digit" of March 2006. Get the free "Fast Track" book that comes with it. It holds almost all problems and possible solutions for a PC.

Insert the Boot CD and go to the partition of installation of the OS and then select R to repair.

But if you just wanna restore the earlier setting restore the system to an earlier date.

Insert the Boot CD and then select R to repair.
it will ask you to log into the exsiting windows os version.
admin password.
give following commands in sequence
>Fixboot
>Fixmbr
>exit

Your OS will be repared.

there is two options of windows xp repair one is if you have window xp's cd just insert it and select repair xp.
and 2nd is if you have internet conection just turn on automatic updet option in cantrol panel.
i thing xp upgreding is best option for you.
