Cuddle up with your pooch Remember YOU are the boss not your dog be gentle but move the sleeping pup and hop in the bed. You will both be happier with the relationship after establishing that pecking order. If you are having trouble getting to sleep for another reason try a sleep aid there are several "over the counter" products out there that can help.

I am sorry to hear that your dog controls your life so much! He sounds like the dog from HELL! I know you probably love him, but there are limits! Animals are just like kids, you let them control you, then they rule you! I used to have a pit bull that I just loved to death. But he had been badly abused when he was a pup, and he had some real issues when people came to my house. But he learned that I was the boss, not him. I didn't have to beat him either to teach him this, just a lot of firm discipline. You don't want to break their spirit, but you do want to take your life back!
Besides, why are you afraid of your dog? You are the one that trained him, are you not? Will he bite you if you wake him up, or tear something up? (mine did, until I caught him doing that one day) Any way, you need to reassess your love for your dog, and your own personal space.
I am glad you love your dog, as many people leaves them outside and they get sick, or aren't even a pet, they're just an animal, so I'm glad you love him, but teach him to share the bed with you, not take it over!

Kick that mangy flea bag out of the bed because dogs have no business sleeping in people's beds anyhow. If he gets mad explain to him that the tin foil you wrap on your head keeps you from understanding what he is saying....

Get a new bed, I wouldn't want to sleep on the same bed the dog slept on, it would be covered with fur.

Both of my dogs each have their own bed -- does yours have one? It may help to close your bedroom door so that your poochie doesn't have a chance to make itself comfortable before you get there. Also some empty boxes on the bed gives the illusion of "no room" for poochie. Good Luck!!

You need to establish your dominance over the animal. Your dog is behaving like the Alpha male when you are, since you feed and shelter him. Grab your testicles and show that dog who is boss. Growl back at him if you have to. There is a man called the Dog Whisper who trains dogs as well as the humans who own them. He has a television show and I'm sure he has a book too. I was amazed by his abilities.

Dogs usually like company when they sleep, so just move him over and take the warm spot.
