A routine chest x-ray usually will show a spot. Coughing up blood. Tests are done to determine whether it is cancer.
All smokers should have a chest x-ray once a year. In fact, if there is any change in a person's health, they should have a check-up. I have one every year. And I see my doctor during the year if I experience any problem.

My husband had no symptoms. He was diagnosed March 20th passed June 6th. If you think you haVE lung cancer get to a doctor now start treatment ASAP It was too late for him but it might not be for you. Good luck

smokers cannot immediately know if he has lung cancer because symptoms of this cannot be seen until its on its late stage... so i think that the best thing to do is to go for check up..
and ..... don't smoke....

They know when the doctor tells them. There may be some symptoms like shortness of breath, coughing up blood etc. that takes a patient in for the diagnosis, but it can be found without it causing any symptoms.

When they get shot in the chest, and the tar in their lungs immediatly seals the wound...

you can't really know without a biopsy but i suggest when you start coughing a lot with chest pain and husky voice and producing some black phlegm with cough, you should go see a doctor
