Yes, there has been a case where a man had acid reflux since he was 14, and lost his stomach to ulcers. The doctor\ attached his intestine directly to his esophagus, so he can still take in nutirnets. He does have to eat constatnly and chew very well though...

It depends on alot of things- The over all health of the person, where it is and how easy to get at, how much is there, has it spread to other organs and alot more. The doctors can do wonders in the O.R now and more and more people are surviving cancer.
