The Jews were worried about the message of Jesus. He said he was the son of God, The King. The Jews had a King - herod, the puppet of the Romans. They knew quite well what would happen if the population rejected Herod and installed Jesus as the King. They needed someone to betray Jesus and they went for the man who was in charge of the purse. Judas himself was concerned by Jesus's message and how it would affect his countrymen.
It's how you look at the situation. Most of us regard Judas as the betrayer but the Jews regarded him as a patriot.
One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter. The bible is a lot more interesting than people think.

Why are we born through a miracle of science only to die and only then discover the answer to the worlds most unsolved question. Humans have perceptions, like taste - we do not know whether a carrot tastes like a carrot or even what it tastes like, an idea is grown and accepted to determine a taste. Like everything, we perceive how things are as to how we would best see them. Water is not wet, the sky is not blue, just our perception of them.
As for Judas. Not being religious i dont have the answer to that, but maybe he fancied a bit of rough ?

The sky is blue due to refraction. Light must enter our eyes in order for us to see it. The Sun emits light with different colors
Different colored light has different wavelengths. Water is wet because it is defined as a liquid. Judas was a traitor, and that's just the nature of some people.
