My freind and I are going to Turkey. Has anyone ever been there before? Is it a nice place? I heard that it is one of the few best countries in the world.

I'll agree completely with Mir77; it's a fantastic tourist destination. I've lived in Turkey, have some Turkish friends, and go there for a holiday every couple of years. It's got so much to see and do, whether you like history, fine dining, shopping, archaeology, cities, rural areas, mountains, or beaches.

The guy who says "it's a Muslim country...that should tell you everything" is probably among the 80% of us Americans who don't hold a passport and simply don't get out enough. If he'd spent even half a day in Turkey, he'd know better. Turkey deserves better than this shallow, thought-free answer.

Hey, thanks for the thumbs-down, hero. Whoever you are, you proved me right.

Please take it from someone who has been there and intends to go back: Turkey is great. Go, enjoy, and take lots of pictures.

Turkey is a very nice country. I would recommend you not to go to an all-inclusive hotel, but a smaller one and try all the good Turkish food in the small restaurants. Turkey has nice beaches, not all sand, though. It all depends on what side of the country you're staying. The south has the best beaches, like Side and Kemer. Going to Alanya you'll find the rougher beaches.
Alanya has great nightlife, but so does Istanbul, which also has great architecture.
So many great things to check out.

Türkiye is definitely a nice place to visit even to live. You must to spend at least a month to visit Istanbul, Marmaris, Pamukkale, Cappadocia, Efes, Bodrum, Çeşme, Kuşadası, Amasra, Safranbolu which are the most wonderful places in Türkiye.

I m Türk and I m living in one of the best countries in the world. Also there are still some little problems in Türkiye like all countries, but being Muslim can not be called as a negative side.

I m sure "robertmcarthur48" didnt visit Türkiye before. So, how can he mean bad things about us?

Good luck my friend, Türkiye welcomes you.

Why are there so many people who are so judgemental about Muslims? My God, you guys are ignorant! Oh well, I guess the US propaganda machine has done its work. Unfortunately.

Anyway, I have been to Turkey and I had a blast. It is a stunning country, beautiful scenery, loads and loads of culture, great old buildings, beautiful beaches, the hospitality is fabulous and the food is ... MMMM!

I stayed in a tiny town called Icmeler, close to Marmaris. While Marmaris is a party town, wIth many clubs and pubs. Icmeler is more quaint (not boring!).

I live in there and it's a very nice place. Don't believe biased people, they would regret what they say if they ever visit Turkey. I hope you and your friend enjoy your visit and have fun.
