is there a place that you can trade in a broken camera for some money towards a new one?

I bought one for my gf and within a few weeks she had dropped it, breaking the screen in back. She mailed it in to the service center after getting an approval from them and an estimate for the repair. They fixed it for free!

Even if it doesn't get fixed for free, it's probably worth more to get it repaired than to offload it for a few bucks and have to buy a new one, unless you're really looking to update/upgrade.

My screen on my Canon Powershot was cracked. I had to take it to the Canon office (this was when I was living in Honolulu... depending on where you live you might have to mail it to their main office in Chicago). They mailed my camera to the main office in Chicago then mailed it back to the Canon office. They fixed the screen for $125. They might be able to fix yours. I'm not too sure about any places that will give you money for a broken camera other than a pawn shop.
