I'm thinking of getting a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon GT manual with about 60k miles on it. I was just wondering if anyone had something to say about a tiburon that they owned for maybe they knew someone with a tiburon around 2003 and if they were satisfied with it? I was reading some stuff in this complaints thing online and it's pretty scary because something about the slutch going out seems to come up alot in the 2003 models. I know people all have their preferances and will tell me that their particular brand of car is superior to everyone elses, and I just need a REAL GOD HONEST opinion or anwser and none of that biased "my car is better than your car" crap I've known 2 people that have had Hyundai's and they said they were the best cars they've had, but I don't want to not have more stats before I actually buy the car.

I own a 2003 Tiburon GT!!!!!!!!! A very good car, yes the clutch is bad as other people have stated, but i have a aftermarket clutch in my tibby anyways. Its a good buy, ive actually beat a sting ray with my tibby, lol, and i got it all on film for a research paper. I own some other cars, but I like my tibby. mine has a slight probelm going off to the sides, but its time for a alignment and I need to adjust the brakes. That should fix my probelm.

To tell the truth. DO NOT BUY a 2003 Tiburon with a Manual trans. I am Hyundia Service Manager. That specific yesr of Tiburon is having problems with the clutch. Don't buy a 2003. Any other year model is fine. But, the 2003 is not a wise purchase. Please purchase a Hyundai they are great vehicles. Just don't buy a 2003.

I remember watching a TV show on the 03 Tibby GT, and the reviews were very good. The Tib actually performs in some areas better than a Ferrari...not that you'd ever mistake one for the other!!
Just make sure the owner has all maintenance records. If he's likely to "tinker" with his car, be careful.

And that is a lot of miles to have on a car..so don't pay too much for it. You can get a brand new one for 16,000...don't forget that.

03 Tiburons did have issues with the clutch. Also, at 60k the timing belt needs to be replaced. Make sure that this has been done before you buy it. Expensive to have done, even more expensive if it breaks as you will need to have the motor replaced. Great cars otherwise

My parents had a hyundai with 180,000 miles on it and the only thing that ever broke was the rear wiper motor, NOTHING ELSE EVER BROKE. They would still have it but they wrecked it. It was a 2000 Elantra. As for tiburon gts i have a friend with one and yes they are good cars and yes he had to have the clutch replaced, but i think that its just because it was the first stick he ever drove.

like any "sporty" car you will have to have it checked out carefully to make shure it was not " rode hard and put away wet " , any under maintained car will turn to junk , Hyundai is really trying to produce quality cars so if this one checks out it should be alright, just be carefull to maintain it.

Where I live, there are lightweight steel/alloy wheels, high performance air filter, high performance sparks, high performance spark wires, depending on the climate/weather and traffic in you vicinity, you may want to install cold air intake/air ram intake
