I am moving to Hawaii from Washington State. After having my dogs shots updated, and a microchip implanted in his chest, what else do I need to know about Hawaii's laws on bringing my dog with me, and keeping him out of qaurantine? I want to try to have everything done beforehand, to avoid a lengthy $50.00 a day quarantine. (which I've heard could be up to 4 months!) He is a 2 yr. old Toy Pom. We are Leaving in 35 days. He will be getting the implant and any shots needed, within a week. Please Help! I'm running out of time, and I'm pretty illiterate with computers. I cant even find a helpful website besides this one. Oh, my dog has not been altered if it makes any difference.

Hawaii is a rabies-free state.
The law used to be 120 days in quarantine.
If you meet the specifications- it will be 5 days. I was reading it over and it looks like your pooch had to have a certain blood test 120 says before leaving. We have such strict laws here- and it's heart breaking for owners and pets. Do you have friend up there to watch him if you need certain tests done? Then you can have him sent over for a 5-day period.
Thank you for being a responsible pet owner and caring about your dog. Most people would leave him behind when moving here.

Call the Airline you will transport the dog on. They have all the info. and they require a special kennel. The airline makes all the decisions until you get to Hawaii.

You have to have all the dog's medical records with you. You can also call Customs in Hawaii and see what they say. I am not sure but Hawaii is in the US so quarantine may not be necessary

I don't know that they have to be fixed, though it is advisable. Also most microchippes are inplanted betweent the shoulder blades. I don't think I would differ from this unless specifically told to by a hawiian rep, do to the fact that if he is scanned they may miss it. Not sure if the scanner would go though the chest wall or not. I didn't know you could get around quarantine. I would find a number for hawaiin animal control and ask them. Hopefully they could stear you somewhere to help.

*IF* this is a military move, you may be able to have an "on base" quarantine... where he simply isn't allowed off base for a certain amount of time. It should not be that severe between states, unless Hawaii is rabies-free.

looks like it will be 30 days...
