Evangelical Christians may fear you because you were a Deist, and not a Christian. They keep saying America was set up as a Christian country, and yet you, Ben Franklin, the John Adamses, James Madison, and others, were not Christians, but Deists, and did not want a Christian nation, but a nation where all could freely worship, or not worship, as they pleased.
