Has anyone had this treatment/therapy and if so what did you think of it, what are your experiences or opinions of the outcomes it can acheive. Do you think it works?

Yes, I have heard of it. I'm in nursing school and my Mental Health teacher discussed it in lecture. She was pretty convinced that it is a very promising treatment and has been effective in treating PTSD. She said that her friend who is a psychologist do some EMRD on her regarding one of her phobias and she has seen marked improvement. I would go for it, but do it through a licensed pychologist/therapist. Good luck.

EMDR is a bit of a contraversial technique. It can be helpful for processing trauma/hurt from the past and getting more ok with it. Don't expect to get it exclusively, it is one color on the psychotherapeutic palate. Meditative, breath focused work is just as good. Finding a therapist that is a good fit for you is more important than wedding yourself to one technique to experience. I would be leery of any provider that says they are a strict practitioner of any one modality of therapy. It is cookie cutter and people are not.

Good luck!
