kids are going to have running noses in the winter time. Expecially now. First start with the home make sure that you do not have to much moisture in the house. (dehumidifier) then also call the doctor, doesn't hurt to have the child checked out if this is a continuous thing. If it is something that has been going on for a few days, and there is no other symptoms, then my guess is it will go away, if there are more symptoms then see a doctor. (nothing like tylenol cold or anything like that, but you can do tylenol childrens, or childrens motrin (if there are other symptoms)

Over the counter antihistamines may be tried. I have no preference other than asking that you avoid diphenhydramine (Benadryl) as it has the most side effects of anything that is available. Each product should list a dose for age 12 and over or adults. The dose would be the child's weight divided by 120 times the adult dose. If the child weighs 30 pounds the dose would be 1/4 of the adult dose. If the adult dose were 2 tsp which is 10 ml (5 ml per teaspoon) the child's dose would be 21/2 ml. If the adult dose were 4 tsp which is 20 ml the child's dose would be 5 ml. If an antihistamine does not work the child may have an infection and you will need to see the physician.

Rule of thumb for runny noses
Clear discharge: Allergies
Other than clear discharge: Bacterial/viral infection (i.e. Cold)
If he has chronic runny nose to allergies talk to your pediatrician who can rx the appropriate allergy medication.
If it's a cold that lasts longer than 2 wks see a pediatrician to rule out other illnesses.

I would not worry about this. Let the immune system that he was born with fight off anything he may have. Drugs are synthetic man made chemicals that do not cure our ailments they just cover them up so we do not notice them. Just stock up on the tissues :)

DRUGS ? are you mad? running to get drugs for a 1 year-old. wipe his nose. or if you're that worried, take him to a doctor. Why do people think there has to be a drug for everything without looking elsewhere first.

Sound like allergies or teething or both.
Ask the doctor.
