I can recite poetry but that does not make me a poet.

Good question here.....I can quote the Bible extensively but I don't consider myself any certain religion....I am highly spiritual, and I do believe in God and Jesus....but I know many Christians that can quote every word but they can't seem to practice alot of their preaching though.....no offense to any Christians out there though...

Nope, because I usually CAN'T quote the Bible. I know a few verses, but what does that matter?
What matters is how I live my life. I TRY to be a good Christian by loving everyone, and by refraining from sin. That's all I can do, but sometimes I fail.
Same goes for any other Christian.
The only reason there is for memorizing Scripture is to use as a weapon against satan. I'm being serious, here. If a Christian DOESN'T have a good grip on the word of God, it's very likely that they'll fall.
So that's why many Christians quote Scripture.

Absolutely Not! Even Satan knows the Bible! Being able to quote the Word just means you can quote the Word! What makes the difference is how you APPLY the Word of God to your life and what your relationship is with Christ! I know many people who know the Bible cover to cover and don't understand one thing about it. God wants us to use the Bible as a tool, a good tool. Some people use it for bad.

Are you anti-Christian, or just sore because you're not a good poet?

I don't think I am that good a Christian; that's why we call it 'PRACTICING The Presence of God"! Also, I don't have a good memory, so what I read tends to go in one eyeball & out the other.

One of the saints stated that even satan knows the scriptures, & they are right. That's why he's so mad & tries to keep people like you from believing. If he can't go to heaven, he sure doesn't want you to get to!

I can't quote much from the Bible. Does that make me a bad Christian? I wouldn't think so. If I didn't live my life in a Christ-like manner, then I would consider myself a bad Christian.

Anybody can quote the Bible but a good Christian lives out the Bible by doing the commandments of Jesus Christ. Action speaks louder than words.

Never!!! People may tend to think this way but it has never been the message the bible has been trying to send us, it was never our place to judge eachother on any issues, being a good christian is about helping one another and following god's commandments not memorizing bible quotes.

The act of reciting scriptures from the Bible has little to do with it. It's about understanding the message that God has instilled in those writings.

No, I think a good christian is not just someone who can quote the bible, to me a good christian is a good person who enjoys helping others and has good values :)

Christians have to be able to quote the Bible... they don't think for themselves... the only thoughts they're allowed are already written down in The Book or handed to them on Sundays from the pulpit... just stick around until Mondays and you'll be able to guess the subjects for this weeks' surmons by the questions they ask on here.
