Thank you everyone for your honest opinions and I do know he likes girls in his class so I never wondered about that just his choice in colors but after seeing that he is not the only one that does that I feel ton's better thanks again and yeah he may be an artist someday happily married w/children but rite now he is a 5 year old kid, I was just wondering because his 3 year old brother when he goes to school he gives the girls all the pink and purple and at home he gives my 19 month old daughter here sissy girl colors then the 5 year old takes them for his picture. lol.

My son is exactly the same...he brings home pink paintings, picks up pink things in shops and asks me to buy them and even says his favourite colour is pink. I always wonder the same thing. I don't have any advice to give you but thanks for making me see that its not just my son that does it so maybe it's just a normal thing that 5 year olds go through?

My son's favorite color is pink! He loves things that are pink...My husband jokes that he's the other daughter I wanted...BUT he's very much into boy things...like cars...You son seems artistic like our son..he's forever coloring on any paper he can get his hands on...and I think I'm the only mom with a blue chicken with purple babies!!! Very proud that he can use his imagination!!! Keep encouraging him...he's liable to be a famous artist...working next to my son...in the art gallery...Look for Adam Bullard some day!!!

Don't worry! He just likes those colors. One of my friends, a 49 year old man who spent 16 years in jail, loves the color hot pink! He has pink slippers and pink shorts that he wears often. He is married and not gay. Now come on, If his fav color is pink and he's ok and survived 16 years in and out of prison and still has a normal marriage don't you think its nothing to worry about? ps the reason he was in and out of jail is because he admittedly gets stupid when he's drunk and often gets into fights then. And he quit drinking when he met his wife 9 yrs ago.

He just likes the colors purple and pink. Nothing to worry about. My son liked the color purple too, (remember Barney). He is 10 now but he does not like purple anymore.

ha! I think it's normal. We would worry a little about my son because he likes purple and if he finds a string or ribbon on long piece of paper he loves to twirl it around (like those ribbon twirlers in the olympics). We would wonder at times and he is 6. But the other day he came home and said he had a crush on a little girl in class so we knew not to worry anymore. I'm sure he will be just fine.

It's totally normal! The great thing about kids his age is that they are not yet "tainted." They are honest and free spirited and don't feel they need to conform - which is awesome!

My best friends son is the same way and he is now 6. When you ask him what his favourite colour is, he says "pink!" When you ask him why, he says because it's pretty. When his mom or anyone else wears pink, he always tells them that they're pretty.

I truly believe he likes pink because it reminds him of his mom. Her beauty, tenderness, love, etc...

Have you ever asked him why he uses those colours? You just might get a similar answer.

Maybe he just likes those colors...My 5 year old colors in pink and all the other colors under the son. Dosen't mean there is anything wrong with your son or mine for coloring in pink.

It is okay, don't worry

it is normal. ask him what his favorite colors are...find out if anyone has said anything to him about liking these colors, he could be rebelling...don't worry, don't make a big deal, it will cause issues for him re:individuality, etc. also, those are very creative colors & he may become an artist... has his teacher said anything derogative about it? most of all, just relax, ask him why the leaves are pink & purple, see what he says...

When children are about five they often have a favourite colour. Sounds like you son's got two favourite colours. My grandsons just 6 and he loves purple. Everything is purple and if there's no purple it's blue. Purple is very popular with the young ones.

It might just be that those colors draw his attention have no fear. My dad at 39 and happily married to my mom wears hot pink wind breakers and admits it is his Fav. color I do not think that liking pink makes you gay in anyway at all I mean if a girl likes blue is she a lesbian?
