Not all churches are getting richer. Mine isn't. Our money goes to the bills, and to helping those who need it, whether they're members of the church or not.
So my point is, just because SOME churches are "getting richer", not all are. And if they are, what does that mean? That they can afford a bigger building for more parishioners? That they can afford to house their pastors?
You know, every church I've ever been to, the pastor had a good car. Not an expensive car, like a Mercedes or anything like that, but a good, dependable car. Does a pastor not NEED a good, dependable car, so that he can not only get to and from church, but to peoples' houses if needs be?
Does a pastor not need to eat, or feed their family? Do they not need clothes?
In today's society, we NEED money. Not a lot of it, but enough to get by, and pay our bills.
Churches are a reflection of society. Therefore, of COURSE some will become richer, while others will remain the same. It just makes sense.

It's true that many people use the things of God for their own profit, the Bible warns us about this.
The problem is not restricted to the church, however. Many secular "charities" use most of their donations for executive salaries with only a fraction (as little as 2%) actually getting into the hands of the needy.

But just as ther are good secular charities, there are also excellent Christian ministries that you can give to where 100% of the donations go to the people in need.

Well, seeker, if you really stop and try to think about it the donations one gives to churches do not always go to charitable institutions. It is up to the local parish priest to dispose of the money as he pleases. If he wants to use it for financing the everyday needs of his parish then he can do it. It is up to him if he wants to give it to a charitable institution.

Also, consider the fact that churches don't pay taxes at all since they are classified as "religious institutions" and under the law they are exempt from paying taxes (well, at least the real property tax as far as i know).
