Religion without science is blind. The Prophets by urging the disciples to follow them and their path actually mislead them in consequence; or it was not intended for the successive generations for whom their advises became out dated. However, Hinduism has no prophet or messenger to claim that what he says is right and others are false or wrong. They say you know the Truth and its various paths to reach the target but you choose the course you would like to reach your destination.
I am not preaching for Hinduism, but giving an example of a universal faith which does not have any Prophet or Messenger of God. God is conceptual which can only be contemplated. It does not require others experience to programme your mind. At best, past experiences of others could be just a guide; you have to go and tread the path. Hinduism is a way of living rather than believing.

maybe so, maybe no ... but who would decide the principles of this religion, if there were no messengers nor prophets? and how would it be carried on throughout the ages without written scriptures?
... I'm not sure I am following exactly what your suggestion is...

I like the part you said about "religion free", but the rest of it was redundant.
