Vinyl? Wood? Or something else?

Vinyl.

It depends on the budget, of course.

I ideally there is a sprung floor made out of wood and hard rubber squares as the foundation. Then it is covered with a vinyl black cover for texture and it's color.

Most companies tour with their own flooring -- at one time there was a major brand called Marley, but there are many companies that make that same covering; Harlequin, StageStep etc.

These days the standard floor is a brand-name called Marley. Theaters are required by the dancers' union to lay this floor over their stage floor. I believe it's some type of vinyl, and you simply lay it out in strips across the stage (or the floor of the room, since it's also in dance studios) and tape it down. It's less slippery than wood or regular vinyl floor, and almost eliminates the need for rosin.
