Atheists, would you participate in any religious service for the sake of understanding the experience?

Sure. I'm a Devout Christian and I've attended Jewish, Wiccan, and various Shamanistic ceremonies. I attended them as a show of respect for other phylosophies that harbour peace.

Yes. I have been to the R.C. church, a Hindu temple, an Orthodox church for vespers, a mosque when they invited the towns people to come, and I want to go to the Jewish synagogue too. I missed that the last time. In our town we celebrate Thanksgiving with an ecumenical service and it is held at a different place each year. All the local religious groups are there. And the prayers are in each too. I would go to a Wicca gathering if I were invited. I have gone on a few Shamanistic journeys. I would like to go to the Native American Church once too. I am open minded and like to learn about other peoples practices and beliefs. God is everywhere and He Love everyone. Heck, I have even gone to a fundamentalist church with a friend, the music is good even if the theology is misguided.

In most cases, YES !!! Depends where, though. I would go to a Mosque, Synagogue or another faith's church. A pagan ritual such as an orgy - well - that's a different participation !

Yes, I would. I go to Christmas eve services with my family most every year that I can make it back to Texas to celebrate Christmas with my Christian family. While in church I focus on the message being given and interprete it the way I feel it was originally meant to be given ... it brings just as many blessings, as if I were in my own spiritual group. It's a wonderful time to focus on the Divine and feel appreciation for all blessings.

Yes, I am an Atheist, always have been and I've been to many Christian church services, as well as Buddhist. Although I have a lot of strong opinions about religion, I can't help but find them historically and culturally interesting, and I try my best to understand them.

I am HINDU by birth and HUMAN by preference.
I attend all kind of religious service - Hindu, Christians, Sikhs etc.
I do not attend Muslims functions as whatever I know about it does not impress me. (I do not have any intention to hurt muslims - but till date I could not understand this religion clearly - my fault)

Note - some one replied about attending REIKI, Reiki is not a religious function. None of the occult can be considered as a religious function.

Yes I would and I have.
I am a Muslim, but whenever I travel to Christian countries and I feel I miss spiritual situations, I go to church or some Christian pilgrimage places. Then I have a very good feeling and feel shining the light in my heart.
I think it's your heart that has to get connected to your God.
