It is a lasting ordinance found in any Catholic Church. It's red. It's called the sanctuary lamp. But you have to actually go inside to see it. Peering in through the stained glass from the outside doesn't make one know everything.
You cannot symbolize, analogize, spiritualize or allegorize an ordinance.

Oil is indicative of the Holy Spirit.
Aaron, the high priest, is indicative of Jesus.
Jesus, our great high priest, continually tends to us, making intercession for us.
Jesus said of the Holy Spirit " He will abide with you forever"
The lampstand being kept lit continually by the high priest is a foreshadowing of the priestly ministry of Jesus, and the ongoing illumination of the Holy Spirit in the believer.

The lampstands are the light of God, as Christians Jesus said we are the Matthew 5:16... So we need to have that dedication to tending our light and continually. (the Temple is now us... 1 Cor)
Romans 12 and the definition of the temple...
Oil is a representation of the Holy Spirit (don't taint it)...
That is how I interpret that verse... Very important.

the way in front of the lord must be tended because he is so good. Light might represent goodness. light banishes the darkness. gold is special. i guess it means, if you worship the lord, you must light his way and leave it that way. You must not move from your post. I think that might mean religion. God has told you to be a christian, you must stay there, and keep the lamp burning (your belief).

The best oil comes from the pressing..to me that signifies God's children going through trials..God makes the best come out in these situations.
Our light is to be continually burning for God..and we are to tend to our walk with God continually..and always be before the Lord... if we are to shine forth as He wants us to.

Sounds like the ot foreshadowing of this. in the nt:
Mat 28:18 And Jesus coming, spoke to them, saying: All power is given to me in heaven and in earth.
Mat 28:19 Going therefore, teach ye all nations: baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost.
Mat 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you. And behold I am with you all days, even to the consummation of the world.

I would say the oil lamps is the Holy Spirit...If we dont tend to it, It goes out/away. We cannot honor Him without it.

It just means the lamps in the presence of the ark of the covenant should never go out.

I don't know ... there is alot of weird stuff in the Old Testament that does not make any sense. It goes into great detail about the measurements of the tabernacle, etc... stuff that just goes on and on and you just don't know what the significance could possibly be.
