It could be - but Occums Razor - the simplest explanation is usually the correct one. Also, it seems a little bit egocentric to think that I am this grand experiment for aliens. I suspect I'm more like a cat, a dog, a mouse. An organism that goes through it's life - learning and doing the best it can.

That's exactly how it works if you try to reconcile man's free will and God's sovereignty. The only way it could possibly make sense is if free will didn't matter, and we find this in theology that says that we are of ourselves unable to choose God. If our nature is sin, then who cares whether there is any "complex program", we all stand condemned before the Lord. We need to give God the power of free will and choosing who will be his own, rather than trying to take it for ourselves.

Who do you think is pulling your strings, if you don't have free will?

If you believe it is the God of the Bible, ask yourself have you ever done anything that the God of the Bible would not agree with? If you have ever displeased God (Everyone but Jesus has)
you have to have free will, because God won't force you to do something that he clearly forbidden.

If you believe that it is chemicals in your body that are forcing you to behave the way you do, fight a natural physical impulse you have. If you can walk away from free food even when you are hungry, you have freedom of will, If you can walk away from a member of the opposite sex even when both of you are in the mood, you have freedom of will, If can risk your life for the sake of some child other than your own , you have freedom of will. because evolution can not give you the ability to do something that is contrary to survival of the reproducers.

The Bible says Satan is misleading the entire inhabited earth and certainly most of us know that we get lies and tainted information which could easily cause us to make mistakes in judgement. That is why it is so important to draw close to God and come to know his thoughts and feelings on things so that we can be aware of any false incoming information and hesitate long enough to make proper decisions which are in harmony with God's will.

You must be watching the Matrix .. right? (Good flick, but Turn it off.)

NO. No one is controlling your thoughts or actions but YOU.
You should *know* it because you have thought processes before you take action. You usually think it over, reason it out, sometimes you go with the right decision, and sometimes you say f*ck it, and make the wrong decision in spite of yourself.

Oh well. You'll get it right next time around, huh?

P.S. Black Parade Billie, you are SO adorable!

When you make decisions out of your consciousness. If you make decisions based on thoughts that what will Jim or Jack think of me?, then you are operating under remote control without free will.

God does give us free will, it is that free will that gets us into trouble. We are not forced to worship God , I worship him by choice. God does not force us to accept Jesus as our savior , I accepted him in a church service without no one dragging me down the aisle.
Lot of things we do are by choice and not that we are forced to them.

If you were being "controled" by God, you would do exactly what He said do..cause God doesn't want anyone to be lost...but you have the choice of whether you will or whether you wont accept Christ.=FREEWILL.

Could be, but what difference would it make? Christians believe god knows all, he is all powerful, so essentially, someone IS controlling thoughts from their belief(either god or the other guy).
