luke:
20:34 And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage:

20:35 But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage:

20:36 Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.

Jesus settles an argument over which husband gets a wife in the afterlife, by saying that no one who will or has married, is worthy of the "new world".

Must a person go to heaven to have a truly happy future?

Ps. 37:11: “The meek ones themselves will possess the earth, and they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace.”

Rev. 21:1-4: “I saw a new heaven and a new earth . . . I heard a loud voice from the throne say: ‘Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his peoples. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.’”

Mic. 4:3, 4: “They will not lift up sword, nation against nation, neither will they learn war anymore. And they will actually sit, each one under his vine and under his fig tree, and there will be no one making them tremble; for the very mouth of Jehovah of armies has spoken it.”

What you need to understand her is Jesus is actually refering to Idolatry and not literal marriage this metaphor is often used in the bible such as the marriage of a Christian to Christ refers to our belief in him.

And as far as the answer above mine about the need to go to Heaven to achieve future happiness. You must recieve Christ for future happiness and if you read the Book of Revelation you will find that you must be saved to partake in all the events that you have qouted because at the point that this New Heaven and New Earth come to be all who are not saved will have already been cast into the lake of fire. I recommend you either get a copy of Clarence Larkin's commentary on the Book of Revelation to get a better understanding or that you get a book by Adrian Rogers called the Triumph of the Lamb.

You misunderstand. They will not marry in heaven because they will be without physical bodies and sexual differences just as angels are. Also, death is the end of a marriage and any who go to heaven must first die.

Lucky for me then I am a Child of God (not a Child of this world (Luke 20:34))

No people who are married are no longer married in heaven that is found somewhere else...

Slight hitch there...

The Bible says that people will not marry in heaven. It does NOT say people who are married on earth cannot get into heaven. However, a marriage on earth will not continue in heaven. It ends at death.
