Russian is so involved with it. Assassination plays a large part of Russian politics. I'm not sure if it was ordered by Putkin or one of his associates, active or retired, but the old saying. "What happens in the KGB, stays in the KGB" is still true. I'm just glad I'm from the US where I can say what I want to about the government without having to watch my sushi. The Italian who tried to warn him got a small dose also. Here is the link.

Well, when you are ex KGB, you got a lot of enemies.

Possibles
1. Russian government: Not really. If the intention is to prevent the leak of classified information, they would have killed him ASAP, not wait six years. If the intention is punishment for dissing Putin, then it has failed. The Russians are smarter than that. So, what would motivate the Russian government to take him out? Pretty little. If one were to take a look at other assassinations done by the KGB/FSB, it's usually little evidence left. Leaving nuclear isotopes is a bad idea. No Russian FSB agent who wants to keep his job would do that.

2. Former Comrades: Could be. He has been quite active in bashing pretty much everybody in the security agenices of Russia.

3. Terrorists: Who knows what he's done as a KGB officer? But then again, where did they get the Nuclear isotopes.

4. Suicide: Sounds like a really bizzare idea....... There are less bad ways to go and blame it on someone other than using nuclear materials. It's too much work for a suicide.

My take is that someone he pissed off when he was KGB, which could be loads of very badass people, simply wanted payback. Since he's been in London for so long, he probably thought he was safe and got careless. Or whoever got him was good.

I saw another question on here as to whether or not he ended up killing himself. Supposedly, we was going to become (or already was) Muslim, and possibly he was making a dirty bomb, and accedently got exposed.

As you can see, there are several theories as to what happened.

Personally, I think that the fact that the agent, who was assigned to look into the murder of the journalist who was highly critical of the Russian government, ended up dieing himself is extremely strange. Almost sounds like somebody is trying to cover up something. Possibly the journalist had something, and he may have found it?

The fact that he'd been poisoned with such a fine radioactive substance that a government is the only place that could secure such a type (what I heard on the news) is very interesting indeed. ALso, they (whoever did it) didn't do too much of a job trying to cover up his poisoning, which means they were out to silence him, no matter WHAT the cost.

There is certainly a lot that we don't know, and possibly quite a lot that the police & the agencies investigating this don't know, and I guess we'll all have to wait and see. This wasn't random, and it certainly wasn't a person revenge killing, which means he knew something, and they wanted him dead.

I will certainly be tuned into the news, waiting to see who "they" are.

russia is slipping back to its old dictator/commie ways.
Putin.. phh.... Its like the JFK assassination.. they found the guy that shot kennedy.. does that answer all the other questions?? no... so you found nuclear isotopes... so what... you cant prove the GOV did anything to him. Fact is.. when your good at taking people out, and your in power, you dont care if people suspect its you. They have no evidence.. other than isotopes...

Its some one he pissed off in the KGB, or... the higher ranks of the KGB. Flat out...
It may not have been worth there time to kill him before until he started talking... they may have found him to be a little man in the game... which he is.. errr was.. If they are little enough, you can let them run for so far before you squash them with one motion.
They probably had him killable at any moment they wanted.

Russia is getting awfully fishy... KGB looks guilty as ****... I mean.. do they think they will find where the isotopes came from? and if they do, who will live to tell about it?

Nothings changed...

I think its time for another Cold War!! whos with me!?

personally i believe the CIA are behind it. i think the US have vested interest in discrediting Putin, and would like to see a 'regime' change. if you look at the body language of bush and putin the last time they met it was clear that putin disliked bush immensely and bush was nervous and uncomfortable about the meeting. it also strikes me odd that these cold war type mysteries have only materialised in the last few months after, how many years has putin been in power, 7 years? if he was the type of character that the US and UK govt are now trying to make him out to be... all this would have been going on since he won the elections. the more i think about it, the more i think the CIA not russia. i would also like to point out that russia is a supporter of sorts of iran... it is clear that should the Us and israel strike at iran, then russia will jump to iran's defence. there is a necessity to make russia 'evil' in the eyes of the common people, to ensure that should this event take place, that there is no opposition on the grounds that russia is 'one of us' so how can we fight against them.
