The guy is fishing for an invite. It isn't something that guys talk about and when mentioned to the opposite sex it's done to elicit an invitation.

It's an invitation if he's not very close friend of you. If he is, it's still an invitation. Just to find a chance. However, if he can't do that, it's ok. but he 's looking forward to do so. Believe me!

It depends. I talk about sex with close friends of the opposite sex (what we do/don't do and exchange pointers). It helps me come up with new things for my current relationship and help my guys w/ theirs. This includes friends that I would NEVER date (I know them too well...).
However, I can see where just that bit could easily be both intended and construed as an invitation.
This comes down to you've got to know him...and if you can't trust him, is it worth it?
