I just got a new cat, and ever since I've felt panicky, and like I've made a big mistake. Is it normal to feel so overwhelmed? I really did want a cat to begin with, but I'm worried. I can't eat and I'm having a hard time sleeping. It's actually done the opposite... instead of being really happy, I feel really bummed out.

What would cause such a negative emotional reaction??

Please don't worry, the cat is in no danger whatsoever! I absolutley adore animals, and I have owned cats before. It's just that I wasn't expecting it to make me so anxious! My body just feels like it's stuck in pre-panic attack mode. Not sure how to deal with it!

Have you ever had a cat before? Did you have unrealistic expectations before you got it? If you thought it was going to solve all your problems, sit on your lap when you want it to, and be undemanding when you want it to - you are probably wrong.

Cat's are about like 3 year old kids. (But really a lot less worry, you can leave them alone all day!!!) But they are also smart. First, for the first few days, your cat's likely hiding - trying to figure out why it's in a new place. This is normal. Whatever else can be said about cats (and most dogs) is that they don't like too much change. (Moving is considered VERY stressful for people - and more so I'd think to a cat - they didn't get to choose to move!)

The thing you should try to do is settle into a routine with the cat. Don't force it to be close - it will when it's ready. Talk to folks at the local pet store - they may have good tips. And give you and the cat time to get to know each other - you may yet become great friends!!!

Yes, there are some serious responsibilities to caring for a cat - but you can learn them. People can learn what they need. Don't worry - you can do this!!

Best of luck!

from reading this i got the sense that this cat may be in danger. i am serious. don't resort to abuse or abandonment.

it may be a huge load off if you admit you weren't ready and turn the cat over to a shelter or someone who can be trusted. you'll be showing strength for admitting a mistake and taking measures to correct it.

this will help the cat have a better healthier life and help you as well. try a pet at another time.

Before you got the cat, maybe you channeled this energy into anticipating the cat. Now that you have the cat, you don't know what to do with the energy. I suggest channeling this energy to play with your new cat and take good care of it.

Do u mind if give this q a go?
The cat has a demon in it,and your feeling this way because of it.When a demon's around, that's one of the common things to experience.Advise?Have the cat prayed over for deliverance from, get this now, only a christian that walks in the light, who holds Jesus as Lord,or nothing will happen. In the King James bible the Holy Spirit said thru one of the deciples"fear does not come from God" I wish you all the best!
