DEAR SHOELESS

No...I do not take off my shoes or my socks when I visit people...UNLESS they are muddy.

GOD LOVES US ALL

No, I only do it if it's the type of house where you see everyone else doing it and there are like those racks of shoes by the door. I'll absolutely respect their home as a guest and comply with how they do things, but honestly, I HATE it. It's awkward and my feet get cold easily. Even in my own home, I will always wear slippers/house shoes and I do not like my feet touching the bare floor at all. It's nasty in my opinion. If there is carpet, maybe not so bad, but on uncarpeted floors....ACK! *shudder* I hate that feeling.

As far as socks go, I've only been to homes like this in the winter and was always wearing socks, so I don't know what I would have done if it were the summer and I had on sandals. That's a good question!

Yes I do take off my shoes when visiting. In the winter I am generally in tights or socks. In the summer I always have a pair of low cut socks in my purse if I am not wearing hose.
The first time I visit I will general ask where I should leave my shoes so that I will know for the next time.
I have a no shoes policy in my home as well

Depends on who I am visiting. Some people like myself have a no shoe wearing in the house rule. I don't need people tracking god knows what all over my house, exspecially since I have little ones now.

Also I always wear socks with shoes ( as in sneakers, boots, etc and not sandals or heels.)

Sometimes when I know the person doesn't like people to wear shoes on their carpet. Socks do help. I don't like to take my shoes off at someone's house without socks. In the summer I have carried them in my purse knowing I was going to have to take my shoes off.

Yes I take off my shoes when visiting people. I have a no shoes allowed house and want to show the same courtesy when visiting them. I usually just say "Where should I take off my shoes." That way if they have a shoes off rule they can tell me so I now where to leave my shoes from now on or they will say "Oh you don't have to do that." I always just say "I feel funny wearing shoes inside, nobody is allowed to wear shoes in my house." THis way if they every come visit me they already got the hint that shoes will be off when visitng me.

This is a funny question, but yes, only if they ask me to. Usually I don't get asked to, but if it is snowing out and someone has a new carpet I wouldn't want to get it dirty with wet snow on my shoes. I usually wear socks in the winter, but in the summer I wear flip flops, so it makes no difference to me about the socks thing.

Yup, because I live in a country where it's the custom- to not do so would be considered extremely rude. It's also the custom to offer guests slippers (most people have a collection right inside the door)- I avoid taking slippers if at all possible- I don't like putting my feet into slippers that who knows who all has worn. I do try to avoid going barefoot in someone else's home- it just seems a bit low class, somehow (that may just be my idea). I have socks to put on (or my own slippers) if I'm going somewhere...

I always take my shoes off, socks or no socks, unless the floor is gross. When I get home, I always take my socks off right away if I've been walking around someone else's house and throw them in the laundry. I guess I figure that my floor is cleaner than theirs!

no, I don't take my shoes off when visiting other people....unless I am staying the night and the rest of my clothes are coming off *wink wink*

honestly, I have never had anyone ask me to remove my shoes. I wouldn't be oppossed to it, but if I just got off work, there is honestly no way those shoes are coming off, unless you want the whole house stunk up with sweat smell. I work in manual labor inside a hot theatre with hard leather and steel toes. It's too much work just to get the shoe off. :D

and yes it does matter to me about the socks.

I take off my shoes if I'm wearing socks. If I'm not wearing socks, I would ask if I should take off my shoes.
