I usually get pink-ish eyes from my dog.(I am slightly allergic to dogs) For the past couple weeks my eye has been dry and itchy. They also look pinkish.... is it pink eye?

My eyes do get crusty/icky when I wake up.

Also, I do have dandruff, could that affect it?

Depends. For me the most obvious symptom is (ew) crustiness, especially upon waking. They're like, crusted shut. They weep all day, and the infected eye is VERY pink, almost red. Yours sounds more like an allergy - try Similasin eye drops from any drug store, they're made especially for allergies & are excellent. If you still can't tell, go to either your Dr. or opthamologist. Either way, they will probably prescribe you special drops.

Sounds like you have Allergic Conjuncitivitis (i.e. Eye Allegies)..does not sound like Pink Eye.

I have had good results (both personally and with patients) with a prescription eyedrop called Patanol. It is used once a day and can really help with eye allergies and the uncomfortable symptoms that come with them.

Conjunctivitis

Sounds like you have an allergy.

Some forms of Pink Eye are highly contageous amongst humans.

It usually feels like there is sand in your eye, redness, thick drainage (sometimes yellowish green). It is highly contagious, so wash your hands frequently. It helps ease the irritation when you rinse the eye(s) with saline
