His reasoning was that through ice testing going back 7 ice ages co2 levels are extremely higher now and increasing. Assuming this is true, what steps can be taken to correct/minimalize this problem?

He said to change your air filters regularly, to use those 7 year lightbulbs, and to use some form of wrap blanket for your water heater, also to buy everything with the "EnergyStar" sticker to know that you're saving money and energy. He was on Oprah the other day.

Long-term solutions would be: Learn how to use energy from primary sources. Fossil fuels are a secondary source, created by compression of dead organic matter over a very long period of time. Primary source would be something we could grow... a first generation "capture" of the sun's energy. Ethanol is a step in the right direction, but unfortunately doesn't store as much energy as oil or coal. Investment in this area is key.

Short-term solutions would be buying fuel-efficient cars, long-life light bulbs. Zero-emission coal plants are just starting to rear their head, and that will be a BIG step in the right direction.
