While you cannot compress it in the more traditional sense, if you have an mp3 converter program or audio program, you can change the bitrate to reduce the size. By reducing the quality or bitrate, you can bring the size. If the bitrate of your mp3 is 128kbps, then bring it down to 64kbps will make the file a 1.5MB file. You need to bring the file down to 1.38MB in order to fit a 1.44MB floppy drive.

If I were you, I would just buy a USB flash drive. This would be the easier route. When it comes to multimedia files, it is not practical to use a floppy disk.

You can compress the file using a MP3 converter and yes you can compress it more to fit the floppy but the song's quality will suffer. If it is a wave file or MP3 file you can use a free program called Audacity (see link below). In this program you can convert and edit your files. You will also need the LAME decoder to encode MP3 files. Good luck!

Change the format to MP3 or MP4. Then zip it if it is still necessary.
