Has anyone had the lens on this camera repaired?
Or know the price of the Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens on this camera?
My husband dropped my camera on the fully extended lens, and I have heard that the worst part about these cameras is that the lens' are so expensive to repair that you may as well buy a new camera. So I wanted to see if anyone had any idea on how much it does cost.

I have no experience about this, nor do I know this camera, but I can or must tell you that you've been told right. Repairing a lens is very expensive.
In a photo shop they should be able to tell you the minimum costs for repair (but the final costs could well be higher).
If you have to buy a new one, ask to see Panasonic Lumix TZ1. It has only 5 MP (who needs really more?), but a 10 x optical zoom (no crap of digital zoom), image stabilizer and a Leica lens. Here it costs 399 Swiss Francs (CHF).
