The exact definition according to Dictionary.com: "Firm reliance on the integrity, ability, or character of a person or thing."
We often have an inherent distrust of people who frequently say "Trust me". I believe people who say this are actually crying out for you to believe them, which is very different from trust. Trust should be unspoken. We trust someone based on the firm relationship that we have build up in the past. Trust needs deposit in the Emotional Bank.
Of all the qualities that make up a good relationship, trust is undeniably the most important. It's the one quality that a relationship simply can't survive without.
If you have trust issues in your relationship, then you and/or your partner will put a question mark in front of everything each other says or does. You'll doubt each other's love. You'll harbor unhealed resentments. Sex will be just going through the motions with little or no emotional connection.
In short, if trust is an issue in your relationship, you'll keep each other at a distance and not let the other get too close--even if you're married or in a committed relationship. The same thing happens to the friendship.
There's no question about it--If trust is an issue for you or your partner, you'll never be able to have the kind of relationship that you really want until you heal this issue.
Yes, trust can be built. You can also rebuild it if it's been broken.
In order to do this, forgiveness, willingness & commitment are required.

Trust is the MOST important aspect in anyone's relationship, whether it is a marriage, or engagement, or just dating... Trust is love... If you love someone, you obviously trust him/her?
Trust is the absolute certainty that the person you love, will not cheat on you, and if someone cheated on you, then you know that, that person never REALLY loved you... And that it was not the right person for you...
But just keep it interesting, never let your partner think that you trust him/her COMPLETELY and that they can do whatever they want to, otherwise he/she will lose his interest in you, and will start looking for something more interesting...

Trust is the feeling you develop in relationship, when you start confiding in the other person regarding your most special relationships, problems, ambitions, aspirations, loved ones and expect guidance, help, advise and support from him. Trust is developed after sufficient interaction/association with the other person and your assessment of the nature of the person is the ruling factor.

Trust is that which we place ONLY in our creator.
In all others, look for trustworthiness or trustworthy behavior, but in all cases know that to err is to be human and even our most trustworthy will let us down on some occasion, albeit not usually intentionally.
