I wish I knew. One of our cats goes into another room and starts crying. When you walk in and she sees you, she's all affectionate and in no apparent stress. We've finally come to the conclusion that she's nuts.

Hi Irfan, There are many reason why a cat cries. If they lose someone close to them, animal or human, they will cry. If a female cat comes into heat they will scream, and cry to get out to a male. If a cat get's badly hurt they will cry out in pain. This is just some of them. Animals' are let humans' they feel pain, and cry for a lost one.

Dear Irfan***

I totally agree with Mort's answer...............

I find with my cats, the leader of the pack (the oldest) has a certain cry and I instantly know he has found a gecko and cannot get it down from the roof, so I fetch the broom and have to accurately smack it off the ceiling. Once on the floor all five make sure it does not get away.

The other cry is to let me know someone or another cat has entered HIS premises. Tough if I am in the bath, I need to fly down the stairs and hose away the intruder.

The other cry is to let me know he is very interested in the bird outside and would love to go fetch it!!!!

earlier people used to say that when anything is gonna happen the cats and dogs feel that and thus they cry and crying of cats is very irritating and as per science when cat feel hard to move and is hungry from last 24 hours then they used to cry and when they are very weak and in bad conditions....
so next time u see cat crying ...give some love and feed her....

Cats' eyes will "tear" or water for a number of reasons, but they are all medical, not emotional. They include eye irritation from a speck of dust, a scratch from another cat, or allergy. They also include contagious diseases, such as upper respiratory infections. Clogged tear ducts (believe it or not) can also result in tearing.

While cats certainly do have emotions such as grieving or depression, they express them in different ways other than crying (lethargy, withdrawal, disinterest in food are a few examples.)

Like human beings cats also suffer from illness, hundger and thirst and thy cry in pain. Some other time there is fight between two or more or cat is attacked by dog or other pet/ wild animal causing injury or fear to cats to make them cry.

Cats cry sometimes because of not finding its co-partners. Its also a myth that cats cry when these see the God of death (Yam raj) coming to take any person for death.

A cats cry is reserved for you alone , they do not communicate with other cats this way-- It may just want you to come see what I found or for a number of other reasons--- nothing to be conserned about-- It is just calling for you---SEE HOW THEY TRAIN US!

Ditto - I'm going with insane - my cat does that - she sits on the other end of the house and cries, then when I call her come running - like I was hiding or something. Nuts.

Or do you mean shed tears/cry? My other one does that? I think it is just dust and allergies, though. He nevers seems sad - and I mean NEVER ;)
