I know the obvious answers to this one but please understand.....the last time that happened, I ended up in a long term relationship with an abusive man. (which was also my first relationship, so my sense of perception is a tad warped.) I don't know what "typical" means anymore. Worse yet, I wouldn't know what to do in a situation if a man that I liked was nice, loving and respectful....what would I do or say? I worry that I would start to cry, or Id say the wrong thing or that Id get attached too fast.... Any SERIOUS advice would be sooooo appreciated. For what its worth, I have been doing therapy for 10 months so please dont think that I see these anxieties as normal or healthy. I just need guidance. Thanks in advance.

the relationship with the abusive man was not right. **** it its typical or anything.. its not RIGHT.... if you do meet a Real man that was nice loving and respectful, you should take things slow... talk to him, flirt a little, go out on dates, and at some point, let him kno what you've been through - but don't tell him so soon, spend a lot of time with him first and get to kno him good. don't get attached too fast, and if a nice guy steps into your life, don't think he's the only one, there are PLENTY of nice guys out there, just remember that. im sorry that you went through an abusive relationship, but there are real men who will treat you right.

Why don't you give Love a rest for awhile while you are healing. Take time for yourself to learn about yourself. What does your therapist say about this? Good luck.

In your case, take it slow and take advice from people in happy relationships. Peace.
