how do i compress a 3.5 second avi file in windows movie maker so it's under 5M?

the help files don't have anything on compression and 15M for 3.5 seconds seems excessive.

the file must be in avi or mpeg format

WMV provides good quality with extremely small file sizes. You can find a program such as WinAVI that converts video files on www.download.com. Search file conversion on that site for what you need.

Use compression softwares and compress the file in MPEG-I or RMV (real media video) format.
