I am 18 years old and am going to Quebec. I know that I technically cannot bring alcohol back into the US b/c i'm not 21, but if my car is searched at the border, what are the consequeces if they find it? Do the customs officials actually cite/fine/bring charges on you, or do they just confiscate it and send you on your way? I obviously can't declare it, so if they find it, could they fine me because I didn't declare it also?

Yes, be prepared to be fully charged/fined based on your state laws. they can charge you for many things, and if they can't they will call the police. You will probably receive fines for failure to declare and minor in possession.

If you do not declare it and you are caught yes indeed you will be cited, detained and fined - US Federal offences, not just state violations. But that
goes for anything that you deny having which US Customs finds (including those US dollar equivalent $ 3.50/lb rib steaks, which are still prohibited. And make sure that any citrus you bring over was US grown and has the state appellation and brand stickers still on it - US Customs hassles over that, too. Canadian-bought boxes of clementines, currently selling for as low as
$US equivalent 2.25 vs $US 6.99 or so in the states, similarly veboten. Etc, etc, etc).

Frankly, QC alcohol prices are so high (even at the border duty-free stores - there are only 3 spirits items I've noticed that are cheaper there than regular prices in NH) I wonder why you would buy anything there (except perhaps for McAuslan beers, which you cannot find anymore in the States) instead of just typically using a 21+ friend to buy for you or a phony ID.
