My middle name is Mitchell and I dont like my last name. Can I make my last name officially Mitchell and completely eradicate my last name from all official documents? When I apply for a job can I use my new name and not tell them I used to have this old name?

Yes, you can change your name. Check with your local court house to see precisely how to do it. As for eradicating your name from all documents, that won't happen - it would be a real nightmare for everyone if it could. When you apply for a job you will have to list your previous name just like a married woman has to list her maiden name. Save every bit of paperwork if you decide to go through with this and keep a copy with a lawyer or in a safe deposit box at the bank. You will want this paperwork if you ever happen to need a security clearance.

It is absolutely possible and legal. It is actually quite common to change ones last name in america. You don't even have to use any part of your own name to make a new last name. You can make your own up. You need to go to your county courthouse and obtain your legal birth records, fill out some papers and pay a fee. If it is not legally changed, though, you cannot use a name other than your birth name on any legal documents or it could be considered a fraudulent act.

No, that is not how it works here. What you are asking would be illegal here. Imagine all your past as a stack of paper. A legal name change would just be the next page stapled to the last. Your history would follow your future, just with a new name.

You can still change your name to anything you want, just not with any anonymity.

You could legally change your name, but i don't know about altering it from ALL official documents (such as college transcripts)

As long as all your documentation agrees, they need never know of your past name (although it will make it hard to get references)

Yes. All you have to do is legally change your name. You can change it to anything you want.

Here are some websites I found. I don't know how good or reliable they are, but you might be able to find some information off of them.

Why no longer? in the united kingdom you may call your self what you p.c. as long as this isn't any longer for unlawful applications. or you may legally replace your call by employing 'deed poll'. Your situation is the Spanish element. Your 2nd call in Spanish is Diaz, In English, it may well be Quintero. This continually motives confusion and, here in Spain, I would desire to respond to to the two! remember Pablo Ruiz observed as himself Pablo Picasso! Spanish style, your names/nombres are Jacqueline Mirely. your loved ones call/surname/first apellido is Diaz and your 2nd apellido/mom's call is Quintero. Many South human beings get around this by employing calling themselves Ms. Diaz-Quintero.

yup, you can go to the court building and get the forms, pay your fee, and you are usually accepted, unless you are changing your name to get out of a debt.
