I have had experiences with both types of Christianity, but the summer that I turned 11, I had an experience with one of them that completely changed the rest of my life and I will never be the same again. I can not be neutral on this issue, so I will not reveal which one or what the influence was. I want to know YOUR opinions. I will tell you that I strongly support the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights which gives us freedom of religion and speech and free association in this country. I believe in telling the truth and not a bunch of mixed up facts about other religions and churches.

I want to be the kind that is pleasing to the Lord....

Because it is about the Lord and not about me.

That is one thing that most Christians don't seem to get and not just Christians, almost everyone.

I would be what I have chosen to be, and that is an Episcopalian. I too have had an experience of the presence of God and as the saying goes, the Spirit goes where it wills. It is not more in one place or another. I chose the church that I am in because it is a rational one that is the most open to women's rights. Otherwise I would be an R.C. or Orthodox. I would, by the grace of God, NEVER be a fundamentalist. They are stuck in a latency age mentality and can not grow out of it without leaving their belief behind. This is why, IMO, they fight so hard against anyone who tries to talk sense to them. The Episcopal Church expects us to use the gift of reason that the good Lord gave us.

You can be born again & be main-line, but I think I know what you mean. Like, Spirit-filled as opposed to denominational? If that's the case, I come down fully in favor of Spirit-filled! That was more life-changing than my conversion! Perhaps because it calls for a closer walk.

Freedom of speach & religion are what we need. We need to be able to hear more than one side of anything if we are to discern the truth. Of course, believing the Bible to be the true, unalterable Word of God helps, too!

My loyalty is to my God and his Son Jesus. I can't not put my faith on man's government who would send me to war and kill other people just because they happen to be under a different government. WIth my beliefs, I don't have to kill or be killed by spiritual brothers and sisters living all over the world.

I would prefer to be mainline. They seem less insane: as an atheist, I find the mainline denominations less offensive.
