I don't feel sorry for them as long as they are content with their beliefs. I get frustrated as you are and want to open their eyes, but then I remember some people aren't ready to hear the truth. Everyone is at a different stage of human evolution and some people are still in too early a stage to let go of the story they have lived their whole lives believing. So yes, I feel your anguish, but no I don't feel sorry for them. It's not easy to do, but we have to try to accept people for who they are. (I know I rarely practice what I preach, but I'm trying!!)

As "un-Christian" as this may sound - Take your pity & stuff it.
First, the authenticity issue is your opinion - not based on fact.
Second, we have no need or desire to "excuse" our God.
Third, what you consider cruel versus what we consider cruel, are obviously 2 very different things. Again, an opinion.
Further, our God is crystal clear to us, and will be soon to everyone who mocks Him - as you so blatently have done here. Only those without a relationship with Him consider Him "neglectful," "silent," or "cruel."
Also, there are no "hoops" to jump through. He created us, and the world we live in, so it would stand to reason that He would know best how to live in it. Logically, if you've never experienced Him, to what can you compare the experience?
Finally, we place no "blame." We understand that our choices have consequences - good or bad. We're mature enough to accept the consequences for our actions.
We also know that the answers to our prayers are always in our best interests. Frankly, it's nice to have Someone who keeps us from potential danger, especially when we can't see what's around the bend. Non-believers, like yourself, have no such assistance. You go through life, blindly stumbling, hoping that your decisions will lead to something better.
No, there's no reason to pity us. Save yours for something/someone that needs & will appreciate it.

I am a Christian and I have not jump through any hoops lately. Some of the bible passages are cruel because they are written in a times where cruelty existed, just like today's world. You see I don't find God neglectful or silent. I find that I have a constant friend and comforter with me. When things go wrong God helps to work out the details of my life. Nobody is given an easy life all the time, but He promised to walk through our troubles with us. Your reality with God is not mine.I feel sorry for people who don't believe.

Most Christians I know are decent/good people. There will always be people of different faiths in the world, so there's no point in feeling sorry for anyone. Give respect, expect it in return, but if you don't get it, don't get angry over it (because that's exactly how those sorts of people want you to react!) The more you ignore them the less they act up. The key is for people to be secularist and tolerant of one another. The world is too small now for all this BS. There's no point in judging anyone.

No, I as one of them, do not feel sorry for myself or any other christians. God is not what you described, he is not the cause of all that is wrong and evil in this world. Just remember that there is freedom of choice. Sometimes bad things happen to good people but that is not to say that God is to blame. And as far as not getting any answers....have you ever found yourself in a predictment and out of nowhere you receive a helping hand, think about it....what do you suppose that is? I am a firm believer that God may not give you all the things you want, but he will most definately give you what you need, and if what you need is to stumble so you can learn....so be it....religion is a very touchy subject to discuss as it is the most personal of all subjects. Just be more aware of how things unfold in your life and see the times you thought you would never get through, how something happens to right that wrong.....No, I do not feel sorry for christians..

After being confident that god maximum honestly would not exists I grew to become atheist and not only agnostic. i'm no longer preoccupied with faith or being against faith. i'm extra fascinated with stuff such as objectivity and rationalism. I do experience extremely sorry for believers yet for mystics oftentimes. I define mystics as somebody following a extra suitable authority for ethical and commonplace preparation, that incorporates followers of religions, philosophies and political ideals which would be irrational.

RIGHT ON!!! Yes, I not only feel sorry for them... I pitty the fools!!! You hit the nail right square on the head with that one, I really loved watching all of them cringe... one day they will discover the truth if they just get past the denial, And have the wisdom to see it. Kinda shocking to see how gulible people can be in this day and age of so much information out there. But don't feel to bad about them... Atheism is growing at the same rate as the sum of human Knowledge, One day it will be nothing but the biggest joke ever.

I am a christian and I know my God is love and as far as prayers I weighed 59 pounds at one time due to sickness and the doctors gave up and sent me home to die ,and I have a strong in faith husband and he kept praying and by God's grace he healed me .Please pick the Bible back up and pray to understand it and God will open your eyes and your mind to see the glorious word he has written for us. I could never feel sorry for a true child of God , because they know they have a place saved for them in heaven where there will be no pain or sorrow. I do feel very sorry for the lost because if they don't seek forgiveness they will burn eternally. And I also pray for the unlearned in the wisdom of our heavenly Father that they might be able to see and understand before it is too late. So as you can see we don't want pity we are happy to praise his Holy name where ever we may be .And I pray you don't take what I have written and think I was doing it sarcastically because I wasn't we are trully blessed

Yes I pity anyone that is so confused that they will believe almost anything in order to stay in this emotional stupor that they lock themselves into.
I would respect them if they were just trying to be moral and ethical in their dealings with others; but when you talk to them they throw all kinds of childish ramblings at you about Heaven and Hell, and how they are going to be rewarded.
They really seem to be delusional opportunists, full of fear and greed. One life is not enough for them, and one death is too many. They're so dishonest, they think they can stack the deck by feeding a bunch of B.S. to their own god.
They say their god is "all knowing", yet they think they're smart enough to fool him and everybody else.

Wow! That's a blanket statement if I ever heard one! Why do you assume that all Christian's relationship with their God is silent and meaningless? Why do you assume that prayers are not answered? It's a shallow and cynical approach to something that is obviously valuable and meaningful to so many, or else it would not be so widespread for over 2000 years.
