If he were MY son he would not be dating, he is not mature enough to be responsible for his actions. He is just entering his hormonal phase of life and responsibility goes out the window. Take a look around at all of the teen pregnancies, they all started out with "I'll be responsible and won't do anything inappropriate".

Are you insane? Dating at 12-13???
Hmm, let's see, I'd guess you're a single mother, the father has little or no involvement with your son, and since you feel guilty about not spending enough time with your son, you overcompensate by being too lenient.
How close was I?
He's a kid. He's not old enough to even KNOW what's appropriate or not, or what being responsible even means, let alone being mature enough to have self control.
He probably can't even stop himself from the temptation of candy or a video game, and you think he's going to have self control with the ultimate sweet, sweet candy, a willing female????
You can lie to yourself all you want, but that doesn't change reality and biology, which are MUCH stronger forces than a mothers misguided good intentions.

I think dating is for those old enough to drive.

That's a very hard question. But the only person who can decide is you. If you trust your son and think it would be a good oppertunity then let him go for it.....supervised. Inviting the "friend" over is a great way to give him some freedom but not let him loose completely. Talk to him about what you expect from him. 12-13 is a little young for complete independence.
If you don't feel comfortable at all then don't go through with it...It's your call.

How on earth is he going to be responsible?
What stakes does he have to bear the consequences?
Does he have the money to raise his kid supposly he get his gal pregnant?
i'm sure he does not even have enough for an abortion.

people at 18 don't even know what they're driving at regarding relationships, much less your son a 12/13 years old.

Geez, he's too young. The younger they start to date the quicker they end up having sex. You should know guys (boys) only have one thing on their mind. At the very least he should wait until he's 16.

That is your decision. Do you trust him? Did he ever lie to you? Is he irresponsible? Is he mature? You make the decision after you have answered these questions.
