Often no symptoms: about a third of people carry staph in their noses without knowing it.
If it's causing problems you might get a crusty sore with maybe some pus just inside the nostril, and you be more prone to getting nosebleeds. Occasionally it can get worse than that, as some of the answers above indicate.
Usually treated with antibiotic ointment if it's mild.

I had this in 2004 and 2005. My nose first became very sore and tender. It would get clotted with discharge to where it made it hard for me to breath. It started swelling and became hot to the touch. I dveloped sores and I also had to try to keep it cleaned out which was very painful and it would bleed to where I would have dried crusty blood inside. The Dr. put me on Sulphur Antibiotics when it came back that I had a staph infection. I was on them for 2 months to clear this up because it was the third time I had it.
One bad side affect from this is that I'm now allergic to sulphur Drugs and the infection is trying to come back.
Mine is because I was living in a place that wasn't healthy and all the apartments were covered in black mold. The place I'm in now had a bad roof this summer so even though their repairing it mold has set in. So I might have to find a safer place to live.

You get purulent(full of pus), yellowish discharge. If your body constitution is weak, you will probably feel lousy. Luckily, staphs are still sensitive to antibiotic therapy. You need to see an ENT doctor for expert advise.

The name "Staphylococcus" comes from the Greek staphyle meaning a bunch of grapes + kokkos meaning berry, and that is exactly what Staph look like under the microscope, like a bunch of grape or little round berries. (In technical terms, these are gram-positive, facultative anaerobic, usually unencapsulated cocci.)
