Why do girls like to hug more than boys?

Question

whenevr i walk in the hallways at my school, i see these girls hugging each other (in a friendly way, not in a gay way), i do it too, when i see a friend, i go up to her and hug her and say hi. just curious.

also, i have this japanese friend that was really surprised when she saw the whole hugging thing that goes on at my school. apparantly in japan they dont really hug unless its boyfriend/girlfriend situation.
do any other countries have this?

I think a great deal of it is culture. In russia for example, it is appropriate for men to kiss each other on both cheeks, which never happens in america.

Even so, I think women often enjoy nonsexual physical contact with men more than the reverse. Perhaps this is traced evolutionarily back to women looking to men for physical protection and security.

Yeah every country has a way to say hello, the Japanese would bow to show humbleness, the executives and business men shake hands and say hi or something, and some people have different kinds of hand shakes. hope this answers your question and sorry if you read the previous answer, I didn't read the whole question.

well thats not always true! but i guess its mostly because a girl can hug another girl without being considered gay. but if you see two guys hugging then normally speaking there thought of to be gay. its sad but true! but i know some guys that like hugs a lot and are not gay! now on the other hand i know girls that hate hugs. it just depends.

i dont think so, only girlz frequently does that rather than boyz.
some times it also depends on locality, i mean the environment they lives in. that's also a major stuff.
i just wanna make ur mind to notice that in western countries these stuff occurs usually b'coz of thier culture.Not only hugging happens, but also kissing and other worst things. Moreover, u can't beleive unless u see, that some worst work is being done by them on open roads.these is................just nothing, but just their culture. that's it

i guess guys think of it as less "manly" or more for "loverrs" so they probly minimize the hugging to family members.

I dunno girls are just silly and weird in my opion. I'm usually around 4-7 a day in my room with a few other buddies and dam does it ever get loud when they talk.
