Oh crap!
Even in our modern times, that could be the most emasculating, brutal approach to take.
I wouldn't do it. It could seriously backfire on you. You may need to apply poressure other ways. How's he supposed to ask for your father for your hand in marriage? Are you going to ask his mom for permission?

No, seriously, the timing is totally up to you. Only you can say when is the time. Obviously, don't ask him when he is snoring, or when he has a mouth full of food.
You have been together a long time. You know his schedule better than anyone else, so find some time in his day, when he is not doing anything and ask away!!

Way to go and take charge!!!! but any time is good. 7 n 1/2 years is a long time and if he is with you that long, then i highly doubt that he'll say no. do it any time you feel the moment is special! do u have some kind of special day that u both know about????????? dont ask him...thats tacky....if he loves you..he would ask YOU...dont be psycho..I know a guy whos girl ask him and he said yes...but just because he felt bad saying no..and he wasnt ready to get married....
