Here is the problem:

Twin A will die in three months because of bad kidneys unless she gets transplant. Twin A is outgoing, intellegent, and everyone feels she will be very successful if she lives. At the time (not with the technological advances of today) the only kidney transplant that will be successful is from her twin. All other transplants will be unsucessful (according to then). This operation is usually safe but there is some risk like any surgery. Both twins can live with one kidney. The parents want this operation to be done but there is an issue. Twin B does not want to donate her kidney. Unlike her twin she is a very sad(depressed), shy, and unsocial person. Twin B feels rejected because all attention has been given to her sister who is ill.Twin B has always hated TwinA who has been given more attention and love. Twin b has been given psychiatric treatment and other things to change her mind but no success.

if you were to operate on Twin A...would you why...3reasons

Twin B is under 18 and has no legal rights in the matter.....her parents can make the decision which is yes (you have consent)

Twin B (14yrs old) says the operation will happen only if they force her into the hospital against her own free will

Would you still operate?

personally i would
1. because she will die with out it
2. because its the right thing to do
3. because everyone deserves a second chance if possible.... even if they are sick
I think Twin B needs to stop being selfish and help her sister out.... she will regret it if she dont....

You can't force someone to give up a body part, its immoral. However, you haven't said how old these twins are. if they are under 12, the parents would probably force the issue and make twin b give the kidney. i think if I was the doctor, I'd continue dialysis until such time as another kidney could be found, or twin b got proper therapy and was willing to donate.

I would operate on Twin A if Twin B could be persuaded to donate a kidney. If Twin B will not, she can't be compelled to, so Ithough I _would_ operate on Twin A I _couldn't_. Only in Communist China can organ transplants be carried out by compulsion.

I think I would operate. If Twin B just lets Twin A die she may regret it several years later.

I would not,
1. I am not a surgeon
2. The frog I opened in biologly class was never quite the same.
3. There are millions better suited for the job.
