There may be programs running in the back ground and you should check for spy ware and the like on your computer you should be defraging and deleting your temp internet files and you also can hit cntl+alt+delete and click on the processes tab to see what programs are running on your computer.

Not in most cases. A computer, although you personally are not running any programs such as word or internet explorer, have several .exe applications running in the background that allow you to interact with it. one of these is the gui (graphic user interface) that is the running application most computers use that allow you to click on an icon to access something versus the days of dos. these are always running no matter what.

I would try using AdAware by Lavasoft. It is a free, top of the line ad scanning program that removes all sorts of adware and spyware. Click link in the source list. I hopw this helps. Good Luck.

You may have a virus, or it may be one of the many things that Windows does behing the scenes.
Update and run your antivirus software to be sure.
If you are interested in what is really going on, right click on your taskbar and choose "Task Manager".

if computer is idle it doesn't mean that windows / antivirus / firewall stop running..
p.s. no concern about it..this is normal
