A calorie is a calorie.
However, if you want more calories to the gram, fat has 9 calories/gram. Protein and carbs are 4 calories/gram.
Go with the healthier fats ( Olive oils, peanut oil) as part of a healthy diet.
Work out too. Muscle weighs more than fat, and you will look and feel great!

Exactly, BOTH calories and total fat calories should be looked at. You don't want to eat foods in seriously high fat calories, cholesterol, and trans fats (fast food, ice cream, fried chicken). Sure, they'll make you gain weight, but there are unhealthy. You want to gain weight in a controlled and healthy way.

Try to consult your doctor or a nutritionist for a good list of foods to start off with. But I think you should try foods like nuts, breads and lots of fruits like bananas. These foods have higher calories, but are nutritional. Remember, you still need a balanced diet.

The total fat calories tell you exactly how fatty the food is. If the number there is more than half the number of total calories, it's considered a "fatty" food item. But look at the calories first — they're generally a better measure.

I wouldn't even look at the 'fat calories' just go out to eat at a fast food restraunt a couple times a week (a burger or something) and drink regular pop. Then sit around and watch tv with a bag of chips. If you haven't gained weight in a month, add some ice cream and cookies.

FAT should never go over 30% of your diet I eat 10-15% fat. 1800-2000 cal is good. TO gain you need to eat more calories a day.

simple, if you burn more calories than you take in then you lose weight, and if you burn less then you gain weight. the rate at which we burn calories depends on our age, metabolism, activity level and other things. to answer your question, you can gain weight by eating either type of calorie, they are no different, but come from different places, just because you eat a fat calorie doesnt mean that it is stored as fat. that is why people get fat from drinking beer. it has calories, but none from fat.

the modern medical journal recognizez 3 diiferent body types...(note your body can be"between"these 3 body types... meso, ecto and endo morphic body type. you should identify your body type first but based on the fact that you want to gain weight i am guessing you are ecto morphic... which means your metabolisim burns calories very fast you are some what bony (skinny) but also it is hard for you to keep muscle on your body the metabolism is stored in the muscle... if this sounds like you then I have to pieces of advice... 1 eat more calories then your body burns in a day... this means protien carbs and fats as well as vitamins minerals and water...at least 64 ounces of water per day if not a whole gallon. also minimize your cardio or arobic exersice, and if you lift weights ie resistance traning do low reps and 85 to 95 percent of the weight that you could do just one rep for any given exersice... 3 4 or 5 reps max and as much weight as possible you know the areas where you want to put weight on so focus your wight training to those areas... also focus on good fat ...quality fat in foods whole foods are better than processed
foods. any questions feel free to email me... hope this helps you get started
spidey.

Eat foods rich in protein & count calories. Don't calculate total fat calories, you'll just build adipose & have the wrong kind of fat go in the wrong places.

I'd go by calories. The more calories you eat the better. On average, if you just sat around all day, your body would burn about 1500 calories just to run itself. If you can eat about 2500 a day, you'll put on some weight.

Drink Ensure if you have to!

Protein is the best thing to help you gain safe weight. Fat can put bulges in all the wrong areas, Protein, increased calorie intact, and moderate weight exercising (try to avoid resistance..go for weight, not reps) are the best ingredients to gain safe weight.
