I live in BC, I am a low income single mother. Her father refuses to have anything to do with her and denies paternity. How do I go about suing him for child support, especially when he denies being the father and did not sign the birth certificate? How do I get him to take a paternity test? He wants absolutely no contact with me and nothing to do with us. I can not afford a lawyer and I just have no clue how to get my little girl what she deserves. There has to be low income lawyers or something out there for people in my situation, Does anyone know anything that can help me on my way? Please....Any information is greatly appreicated.

Go to your local Department of Social Services. There's a lot of papers you must fill out, but they'll make him take a paternity test via a court order. Once the results are back, he'll not only have to pay child support, but he'll also have to pay the outrageous fee for the paternity test. You can make him pay, so just do it. I'm speaking from experience! As long as you're certain he's the father, you can't loose! Go for it! Your child has a right to be supported by his, or her, father!

Go to a magistrate. That will cost you around $35. He can sign a court order insisting that your bf take a paternity test, and the bf has to pay for the test also. That is a pretty standard court proceedure. Once you have the results, you can take them to a lawyer, (first consultation is free) and sue him for the child support. Sorry, This is in US, hope it helps though.

Talk to public aid for a lawyer, He can be taken to court and force to a DNA test. If he is the father you can have him support your child. You may also have grounds on keeping him away from the child for the same reason. If he not the father I wish you good luck.

Well here in the US there are offices in each county, "Department of Child Support Services". They offer free services that help to establish paternity, as well as assist in the child support order and visitation arrangements. I would search online for something similar in Canada, and in your area. Good Luck!

In my state the department of health and welfare will go after the dad, and force him to take a paternity test to prove legal obligation. However, it takes a lot of time and patience, as there are unfortunately a lot of men not willing to take care of their responsibities. I would look into what government programs are available for you, or speak to legal aid. Don't know if that helps much, but I hope the best for you and your daughter. :)

The mother is to blame in this situation but her ex husband is not the legal father (biologically speaking) so he should not have pay child support because he "adopted" the baby as his for awhile.

I'm a Canadian too, and you might want to check the Yellow Pages, as well as with your local government offices. 411 is also a good resource, as well as 211. Fight for your daughter, because she is the one who will end up hurting if you give up.
