Yet they don't seem to be tolerant of anyone elses... I'm asking this because i see a lot of answers saying that Muslims are misunderstood, Christians abuse them, etc etc. I don't recall any Christians flying plaines into buildings full of Muslims. Or any Christians walking into night clubs with bombs strapped to their bodies.

Just for fun, lets try to get some answers that are intelligent, instead of the hate and bs that religious questions seem to cause! This isn't about George Bush so lets keep it non political too.

Now for all of you who have to dig up things that happend 50 or 100 or more years ago... Thats not what I asked. I'm talking about today not what the crusaders did or some other group on either side did generations ago. And think about it, a lot of those examples you people are giving are Christians killing other Christians, not one religious group killing another.

You say you dont see Christians flying plaines into buildings, but do you see Christian countries invading Muslim countries? Do you see Christian countries giving lets say Israel more foreign aid than anyone else to kill Muslims? When Tutsis were being murdered by Hutus in Sudan, it was the Muslims helping them- the catholics were involved in the killing. During WW2 the catholic church well to put it nicely, kept uninvolved.

You also say that you dont want to hear what has happened 100 years ago or more, but that is important to what is happening today. History is what we are about. I am sure you have disliked a person from your past that did something wrong to you, but yet 20 years later still dislike this person. It is the same concept.

Muslims are tolerant of other religions in general. But being pushed and pushedfor years and years and put under a microscope 24 hours a day has a way of putting people on the defensive. These days the whole world is against Muslims just like you are.

What those people did on 9/11 does not represent Islam or muslims, but it does show the amount of hatred towards the US by people. You say dont get political, but this is what it is about. Do not confuse the 2.

Most muslims could care less about your religion, but they do care about you as a person. I work in the Middle East, and what they care about is the same as you.... Money for their family, a nice place to live, food to eat, healthcare, and RESPECT.

Your question is good except for the no politics or no history. Those are what is in the answer to your question.

Well, much like Christianity, Islam does have a fair amount of corruption in it's church.

You see, Islam preaches that one must protect their home from evil. And dieing while doing this is a sure way into paradise. So, the faithful Muslim puts on his C4 overcoat, walks into the public establishment of your choice, and goes out with a blaze of glory....straight to hell.

You see, what the corrupted Islam preacher didn't say, is that it's only acceptable if you were actually under attack, defending you home country (meaning IN you country) and you can't kill any Old men, women or children.

Now, since the countries that have Islam as a major religion are fairly oppressive ( by USA standards ) they don't have the advantage of being able to question their leaders. So, it's either do as they say or die. Which puts these poor guys in a Catch 22.

One minor fact that I have to support this theory, is that I've never heard of an American Muslim doing suicide bombing. It's always some one imported with the intent to harm. Not some one who has the religious freedom to actually read and ask.

Best wishes.

I'm Korean and Dayist so my answer is unbiased.
Every religion has extremists. Christianity caused the crusades, and there are Christians celebrating the death of US Marines. Muslims have terrorists. Hinduism has some so called cruel customs that some fanatics choose to follow. Mormons have people knocking on your door in the morning..Haha, just kidding.

What I'm saying is, you can't judge a religion based on the extremists in the spotlight. The Koran doesn't have anything about blowing up innocent civilians. Neither does the Bible. Maybe the Mormon Bible has a chapter with how to annoy innocent people at 6 AM. Haha..Just kidding.

My dad is a pastor so I've met some Hindu and Muslim exchange students who came to his church, and they were normal, nice people. They didn't have bombs strapped to their waist or bloodthirsty expressions. Muslims are generally peaceful people, as are Christians. But calling Islam a violent religon is like calling Christianity a hypocritical, equally murderous religion purely based on George Bush's actions.

Religon isn't always trustworthy. It can be misused and translated in bullcrap ways, and I personally think that George Bush and terrorists are just two evil powers fighting for nothing but innocent deaths.

Its so simple...The christian population in the world is much higher when compared to the muslims- who are the next in the scene.Hence it is so obvious that every time some one accuses - it ends up as a christian accusation, cause the rest fall as mere minorities. It cannot be just a misundersatnding but a fact. As human beings evolve the rules tend to change along with time and this has been so. This clearly shows that our brohers have and are still in the same old days - time to change yourselves than ask the world to change for you.

Islam. I think Mama gave a very detailed answer; I've no more to add, but do want to make a minor correction to another poster: Halal is a bit less strict than Kashrut. Those that follow Islamic dietary laws can eat Kosher, but those that follow Jewish dietary laws may have a problem with some Halal foods or preparation.

All religions are evil for a variety of reasons. Some religions exhibit those qualities that make them evil more than others. Islam is one of those religions. They believe they have a monopoly on truth and an arrogance that is beyond belief. They will listen to an Atheist cut Christianity to shreds, but the minute they are equally treated the same, they fly into a rage bordering on psychotic, as if their silly religion deserves to be treated any better than the pile of drek called Christianity. It is evident that they want to shield their religion from Western influences and because they can't, they have the balls to insist that we change to accommodate their deeply held misconceptions or die. I hope they realize that there will be stiff resistance to such an attempt.

Because every religion deserves to be treated that way.

It's easy to generalize and say Muslims aren't tolerant of anyone else's religion. A lot of the religious conflicts today are mainly caused by political issues, if you really look at history and the current issues you will find that this is true.

Muslims who aren't tolerant of other religions for no good reason should be reminded of Prophet Muhammad's (pbuh) attitude towards other faiths as he was extremely tolerant.

For example, there was an agreement that was made with the Christians of Najran in the south of the Arabian Peninsula that is fine example of the justice of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). One of the articles in the agreement reads,

The lives of the people of Najran and its surrounding area, their religion, their land, property, cattle, and those of them who are present or absent, their messengers and their places of worship are under the protection of Allah and guardianship of His Prophet.

The Compact of Madinah, signed by the Muslim immigrants from Makkah, the indigenous Muslims of Madinah, and the Jews of Madinah is another important example of justice. As a result of this constitution, which established justice between communities with differing beliefs and ensured the protection of their various interests, long years of enmity were brought to an end. One of the most outstanding features of the treaty is the freedom of belief it established. The relevant article reads:

The Jews of Banu `Awf are one nation with the Muslims; the Jews have their religion and the Muslims have theirs.

Article 16 of the treaty reads:

The Jew who follows us is surely entitled to our support and the same equal rights as any one of us. He shall not be wronged nor his enemy be assisted.

Welcome to the new millenium. The Age of Politically Correct Tolerance.
We cannot ignore the political ramifications of the question. It's not a Republican or Democrat thing. The west in General has become liberal and tolerant in all topics. Western Europe and the Americas are all part of the great melting pot.
Muslims see this age of tolerance as a perfect opportnuity to spread their religion of intolerance. Essentially, they use our laws to promote their own agenda.
