I went to Japan in 2005. I was there for a summer term; about six weeks.
It cost me nothing (I had a scholarship).
I applied to Youth For Understanding, check out their website.
It was very fun and informative. I knew next to nothing about Japanese when I went, but I came back knowing quite a lot. Not fluent, though.
My host family was very nice to me. They did a lot of things to help me figure things out.
I want to school and generally did family things.. you know.
